About the Halifax County Horse Council
The Halifax County Horse Council works to promote or assist in the following events each year:
Benefit Horse Shows
Since it's establishment in 1989, the Halifax County Horse Council and other local sponsors in the community have used the Halifax County 4-H Horse & Livestock Complex to raise donations to support various worthy causes in our community over the years. One such annual event is "Dylan Moore Days" where funds are raised to support families facing financial hardships due to medical issues. These events have brought strength and fellowship to the community for many years.
Open Horse Shows
There are many Open shows that are conducted on the Halifax County 4-H Horse & Livestock Arena grounds. Some are promoted by the Halifax County Horse Council but the facility has also welcomed promoters such as the National Barrel Horse Association, Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association and Tri-County Horse Club. Many come to our area looking for a facility offering arenas with spectator seating, an announcer's booth and registration booth, a full concession stand with bathrooms, stalls and working round pens, overnight camper hook ups and plenty of parking for an abundance of competitors.
Fun Horse Shows
The Halifax County Horse Council sponsors a fun show circuit for those who enjoy the fun side of competition. This is a great way for youth and adults to have a great time while progressing in their horsemanship skills. Points are accrued throughout the circuit and awards are presented to Grand and Reserve Champions at the end of the year.
Educational Clinics
The Halifax County Horse Council offers members unique educational opportunities locally and take member input and feedback seriously in order to determine the subject matter. Some of our recent clinics are listed below:
Equine Health Clinics
We host annual vaccination clinics in an effort to prevent the spread of communicable disease and to offer affordable care for your equine friend, along with an equine dental clinic in the spring or fall.
